In the 11 years Joeri has been with us, he has seen many beautiful landmarks pass by. In his first years at Aldowa, Joeri started as a draughtsman, but in his current position as Sales Manager, he mainly consults with clients, makes calculations and submits quotations. The nice thing about working at Aldowa is that there is plenty of room for growth and development. Joeri seized this opportunity with both hands. During the design phase of the bus station of Utrecht Central Station, he was not only allowed to draw everything, but also to order immediately. This is how he came into contact with calculations and quotations and discovered that he also really enjoys the sales profession! Utrecht Centraal is therefore the sight that Joeri is still most proud of, as this was the first major project where everything came together for him.
But not everything always goes smoothly. Joeri tells us a (in retrospect) funny story about his first project. For the theatre in Nieuwegein, Aldowa was developing a new ceiling and Joeri had perfectly sketched the 101 unique panels needed. At least, that’s what he thought. After a golden tip from a colleague, when the production was almost finished, it turned out that all the panels were mirrored and, due to their unique shape, all unusable. Joeri was still on probation and took responsibility. Soon, Allard (then director) indicated that the fault was not with him, but with the onboarding process. Nevertheless, Joeri worked in the production hall for a week to make up for it and limit the damage! The customer never noticed anything and all the panels were still there on time.
This story also shows the great culture and atmosphere at Aldowa. We are a team, everyone takes responsibility and the way we work is based on mutual trust in each other. Making mistakes is allowed (even required), as long as we learn from them. We are ready with the whole company to solve them.
