For the Dutch Design Week 2022, a pavilion was developed that uses 376 solar panels in 7 different colours. The pavilion was designed in such a way that it can be easily dismantled and subsequently rebuilt at a different location.

Architects Marjan van Aubel and Michiel Raaphorst designed the pavilion as a carpet of solar panels stretched between robust steel masts. Via two steps leading to a recess between the solar panels, one can move amidst the solar panels.

The aim of the Solar Pavilion is to bring the solar revolution closer to people through collaboration and aesthetic acceptance. Marjan van Aubel:” Solar needs a new perspective, something that is more personal and fits our culture. It is time for solar design and this pavilion demonstrates this change.”

The construction has been devised so that each solar panel, manufactured by Kameleon Solar of Roosendaal, can be placed at a different angle. Efforts were made to use materials with a high degree of circularity.
